Milton Keynes based startup Spectrum On Air has been named a finalist ahead of the South East Regional final of the StartUp Awards.
The UK StartUp Awards was launched to recognise the booming start-up scene across the UK which has accelerated over the last few years with over 900,000 new businesses founded in the UK in 2023, a 12% increase from the year before.
Over 900 businesses have been shortlisted for this year’s UK StartUp Awards and the contribution of these firms - all of which were started in the last three years - is significant, having created nearly 6,000 new jobs since they were established and generating annual sales of £480 million.
Spectrum On Air is an Internet Radio Station founded by Suzanne Letting, Mick Bannister, Anthony Ingledow in 2021. The business has been nominated for the Media & Entertainment StartUp of the Year Award in the South East Region.
Suzanne Letting, founder of Spectrum On Air, said: “This is amazing news, it goes without saying that all of us involved with the Radio Station are passionate about supporting emerging Artists across the UK and Globally. The cohort of finalists will be considered for the regional prizes by a panel of seasoned judges with experience founding or supporting entrepreneurial ventures. The winners from each region will then be invited to the first UK final taking place at Ideas Fest, the Glastonbury for Business festival in Tring, Hertfordshire on 12th September 2024.

We are curating a festival event in aid of Ehlers Danlos Support UK (a condition that my Daughter has) and have booked www.flaxbournegardens.com to host the event. We aim for this to be an Annual event with lots of local Artists performing in the marquee. It will be a ‘closed’ Festival in the sense that we are selling only 500 tickets for the first year, making it an exclusive fund raising event locally. We are busy sourcing a headliner for our event and will report further as soon as that is in place. We are in talks at the moment and we are confident we will have a one if not two superb Headliners. There will be some exclusive foodie concessions to eat at, a full bar and for the children we are planning a Magical Story arena, a silent Cinema area, face painting plus a few more awaiting confirmation. Live music will come from the many local Artists we have been working with for Ampthill Festival plus some exciting new Artists I have been interviewing on Secklow105.5fm.
